New wheelchair accessible options from VDL Berkhof Valkenswaard

The Axial coach range is available as single deck and as double deck coach. The
different types come in various lengths (10.8 – 14,1m). The Axial is now also available with a wheelchair accessible entrance through the front door:
• Double Deck Coach with a ramp and
• Single Deck Coach with a cassette lift

The Axial is an proven concept and known for its low maintenance costs and low weight. The coach is very comfortable for the driver, co-driver and passengers because of the easy access, good sound and heat insulation. And now its range has been improved by the new lift options.

Axial AHV 108-380 VIP on Volvo B9R

In March VDL Berkhof Valkenswaard BV has delivered the first VIP coach build on a Volvo B9R chassis to ADS Autocars in Kontich.

The coach delivered to ADS Autocars is an Axial AHV 108-380 build on a Volvo B9R chassis with 380 bhp and I-shift gearbox. It is the smallest Axial model that VDL Berkhof builds. As standard this coach is fitted with a rollover bar, air conditioning, hinged luggage flaps, Blaupunkt audio/dvd system, comfortable Vogel passenger seats and a coffee machine. In this case it concerns a very luxurious coach as it is fitted with Vogel Contouro seats with a partly leather trim, a rear saloon with a large table which can seat 10 passengers, two refridgerators and one face to face seating position. In total this coach can seat up to 32 passengers. The Blaupunkt audio/dvd systeem with Travel Pilot is also prepared for an i-pod. Furthermore it has a digital tv receiver and it has the possibility to link up a laptop. Passengers cannot only listen to music or watch a movie, they can also look at a Powerpoint presentation.

New interior for Axial AH and AS models

As from the beginning of 2008 all Axial AH and AS models are fitted with a new interior. The luggage racks have been restyled and new personal service units have been fitted with individual reading lights, blue night lights and air nozzles. The interior lighting, which was integrated in the canopy, is now fitted in the luggage racks together with blue night lighting. The canopy, which is covered with a creme coloured lining, carries on through into the luggage racks. Together with the indirect interior lighting this creates a spacious atmosphere. Naturally the luggage racks are fitted with lockable cupboards for the driver and guide.

Axial wins prize in Serbia

In addition to the well-known European 'Coach of the Year', Serbia has its own national "Coach of the Year Serbia" award. This is the 16th time that the automotive forum of the union of Serbian journalists has organised this award. The Axial ASD 129-410 was unanimously chosen as Coach of the Year 2008 in Serbia. It was particularly praised for its reliability, quality, economy and versatility.
On 31 January 2008, Wim van der Leegte, President-Director of the VDL Groep, in the presence of Zoran Radovanovic, President of MTA in Serbia, accepted the prize's certificate and trophy.

First Euro 5 Axial for Serbia

With total deliveries of about 200 new buses since 2001, the Axial has become a more and more familiar sight on the roads of Serbia. One of the largest customers of VDL Bus & Coach in Serbia is 'Traffic Company LASTA a.d.'. Since 2001, VDL Bus & Coach has supplied about 140 new Axials to LASTA. The winning Axial has now also been delivered to LASTA.
This Axial 129-410 has a length of 12.9 metres, 53+1+1 seats and is fitted with the DAF MX 300 S motor's Euro 5 model. This also makes this Axial the first Euro 5 from VDL Bus & Coach for Serbia. Leather seats, toilet, air-conditioning, DVD player and LCD screens give the passengers every imaginable luxury and comfort.
